Problem solving and decision-making are higher executive function skills that become more complex as the frontal lobe grows. However, these skills are based on the brain's rule: Use It or Lose It. So, if someone solves a youth's problems or makes all their decisions, they will grow networks for dependency...not independent problem solving and decision-making.
